Term 4

Term 4

To all our parents, care givers, grandparents, brothers and sisters and anyone else who supported us in our learning this year. Thank you for all your help, encouragement and enthusiasm. Without you we would not have achieved the successes that we have. Thank You  from all of us in Room 16.

Week 8
Our visit to the Corban Art Centre was a magical, music and dance outing, learning about Pacific Island culture.

Week 6 & 7

We had a cultural rotation. We listened to a story call The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind. It was about a boy from Ghana in Africa. He had nothing, he taught himself to read by using a dictionary and visiting a library. He saw a picture of  a windmill and out of old scrapes,he made a windmill to power a light bulb. He eventually made one to power four light bulbs. He saved his family and community from famine as his windmill was used to irrigate crops. You can see him on TED TALKS
www.ted.com/talks/william_kamkwamba_how_i_harnessed_the_wind.

We drew tessellations of triangles and then made our own windmills.

We also learnt about other cultures around the world and made Chinese dragons and Dutch windmills from Holland.

We visited room 3 as they are our buddy class. They shared their story writing with us. It was great listening to the stories they had written. Well Done Room 3!

Week 4 & 5

We had captain Cash come in and tell us how to look after our money. How we can save by knowing the difference between needs and wants.

We need a pencil for school, but we want a toy to play with.☺

Well Done Nathan, Max and Brodie

We made paper jets by following written instructions. Then we took them outside and flew them.
We also had a competition to see how far the could fly. After that we took our tape measures and used length to measure how far they had flown.
